Come on. YOU ARE A CRIMINAL. This story might be more familiar to you as the move with Claire Danes in it- Brokedown Palace. Thats right, they had to make it about girls to make it more interesting. Also the girls feigned being naive better. This guy was just an idiot.
The story here is of an Australian drug trafficker who gets caught. Plain and simple, the man got greedy. Obviously wasn't doing this for personal use but contributing to the global problem. After he gets his sorry butt thrown in jail, he attempts to make the reader feel sorry for him. To sympathize with his misfortune. Sure it sucks that that you were treated poorly, and there were horrible crimes against criminals, and you never got to eat. But come on! Its prison. I wish that more Canadian prisons were like this. Perhaps it would discourage people from murder, rape, and taking part in any type of crime. If the story was that he was tortured after the wrong man was accused, and no crime had taken place it might have been a lot more interesting. But instead, I say get over yourself. Glad this book was a loner and that I never contributed money to this criminal.

Would I recommend it? Maybe to someone else who would like to hear of this scumbag being tortured. But not to someone who I would think might end up sympathizing.
